Innovation in Emergency Hospitals: The POP-UP Architecture

In a world marked by various emergency situations, the ability to provide immediate and effective responses is essential. The combination of emergency architecture and the “pop-up” philosophy has led us to create an exceptional emergency hospital, designed to be mobile and temporary, providing specific, rapid, and secure solutions in critical moments.

The fundamental premise in the conception of this design is its versatility: it is multi-purpose, flexible, improvable, reusable, relocatable, and recyclable. Each module has been constructed with transport constraints in mind, featuring specific container measurements to facilitate mobility.

The furniture has also been meticulously designed, with the possibility of being manufactured in a workshop and easily replicated. Each piece is planned to accommodate facilities such as electricity, oxygen, vacuum, among others, facilitating an efficient assembly process.

Regarding materials and colors, we have chosen to maintain the premise of designing spaces that provide comfort and well-being, applying principles of neuroscience applied to architecture and evidence-based design. Despite being emergency situations where stress is already present, we have sought not to add negative emotions and feelings. Therefore, wooden furniture, light colors on the walls, images evoking nature or contact with the outdoors, as well as calm and non-direct lighting, have been chosen. The spaces are adaptable according to specific needs.

In summary, this emergency hospital not only efficiently responds to emergencies but also seeks to provide an environment that contributes to the emotional well-being of people in critical situations. This combination of functionality and humanization aims to establish a new standard in emergency care, integrating engineering with sensitivity to comprehensively address the challenges that arise.
